A Preview to the Parasport Games

The Durham Region is looking forward to hosting 350 athletes from across Ontario from February 8 – 10 2019. Eleven different sports will be featured across the region including 5-a-side soccer, boccia, goalball, para-alpine, para-nordic, sitting volleyball, sledge hockey, vision impaired curling, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair curling and wheelchair rugby.

The ParaSport® Ontario team was active and involved with sitting volleyball and boccia demonstrations during the 100 Day Countdown event earlier in November, with a slew of enthusiastic participants and eager students willing to try the fun sports.

Not only will the Parasport Games provide the opportunity for athletes to compete at a high level, but it will also generate an expected $500,000 in revenue for the Region.

The spirit of sport, inclusion and accessibility are alive and well in the Durham Region and we can’t wait to see how the games progress as these talented athletes prepare in the months leading up.
