Empowered Kids Ontario Conference
Nov. 19 – 20, 2018, ParaSport® Ontario’s Executive Director, Jeff Tiessen (pictured on the right), attended the Empowered Kids Ontario annual conference, connecting leaders in the disability community with the same mission for an incredible event.
In a room full of dedicated professionals who care about the lives of youth with disabilities, we were inspired to hear the stories shared, learn more about the innovations being made to better lives and share our resources with the community.
Centres and representatives showed up from across the province as far north as Thunder Bay to Windsor, Ottawa, Kenora, Toronto and more to share information.
Alison Morse (pictured left), Provincial Coordinator with Easter Seals Ontario, met with Tiessen to discuss the programs the Easter Seals run for children with disabilities to help them succeed in life. The Easter Seals offer excellent programs and support for children and youth with disabilities that help provide opportunities, funding and social support for kids.
Our TRY Me program was a hit, with our postcards and posters featuring our adaptive equipment in high demand with the centres. TRY Me has introduced thousands across the province to many different parasport opportunities and connected hundreds of clubs and programs to those who need them across the Ontario.
We look forward to the new partnerships and learning opportunities this conference provided and want to thank the team from Empowered Kids Ontario for putting together such a wonderful event. Being able to help and support children and their families is a growing mission across the province and we are excited to play our part when it comes to sport and recreation opportunities. There’s a sport for everyBODY.
