On Your Mark. Athletics (a.k.a. track and field) is the largest and one of
the most popular sporting events on the international stage. But it all
starts on a local track or field. Athletes of all disability types compete
in a myriad of track and field sports, such as sprint and endurance running
and racing, long jump, high jump, shot put and javelin just to name a few.
There are plenty of adaptive devices and equipment to aide athletes on the
track and the field. Blind and visually impaired athletes often pair up with
a guide runner. Prosthetic blades propel leg amputees and wheelchair
athletes often use specialized racing chairs. So Get Set and Go with
Athletics Ontario.
