Unique to boccia is that it is co-ed. Men and women play on the court together and against each other. Boccia is a sport that can be played by competitors who have severe disabilities: cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy for example. Players can throw, bowl, kick, or use a chute to propel the little leather ball onto the court.
