ParaSport Ontario is a non-profit organization that provides adaptive sports to athletes with a physical disability, with the mission that there is a sport for everyBODY. It’s with that mission in mind that we have partnered with the Invictus Games to host a one-night music and awards show called the Evening for Inclusion on June 1, 2017.
Congratulations to Archie Allison, ParaSport Ontario Board Member, for his induction into the Canadian Paralympic Hall of Fame which recognizes and celebrates those who have made a significant contribution to the growth and development of the Paralympic Movement in Canada.
Joining him in the class of 2017, among the group of five uniquely accomplished individuals, was Paralympic swimming medallist and Minister of Sport and Persons with Disabilities, the Honorable Carla Qualtrough. The quintet was honoured at a gala in April in Ottawa.
On September 23, 2016 the CN Tower was lit in yellow to commemorate the one-year countdown to the 2017 Invictus Games taking place in Toronto from September 24 to 30, 2017.
Established by Prince Harry in 2014, the Invictus Games are the only international adaptive sporting event for wounded, ill and injured active duty and veteran service members.
The Invictus Games Toronto 2017 will present a unique opportunity for Canadians to honour its servicemen and women and their families on the very year our nation celebrates its 150th anniversary of Confederation.
