Until he recently semi-retired and became Chairman, John Oakes was the President & CEO of Brookfield Condominium Services Ltd. (now Crossbridge Condominium Services Ltd.) for over 20 years. He oversaw the growth of this company from a small enterprise into the largest manager of condominium corporations in the Greater Toronto area. His career included considerable involvement in the not-for-profit sector as well.
"I have been truly inspired by the enthusiasm and joy of life of the individuals I have met through ParaSport Ontario. I believe that their participation in a sport or a recreational activity of any kind has been a significant catalyst. Their pride, sense of self-fulfillment and discipline, and ability to become fit in the process has spilled over into every part of their lives."
We acknowledge the land on which ParaSport® Ontario was built is the Treaty Lands and Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit and the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe, the Wendat, and the Haudenosaunee peoples, many of whom continue to live and work here today. This territory is covered by the Upper Canada Treaties and is within the land protected by the Dish with One Spoon Wampum agreement to peaceably share and care for the resources around the Great Lakes. Today Toronto (also known as Tkaronto) is home to many First Nations, Metis, and Inuit peoples and acknowledging reminds us that our great standard of living is directly related to the resources and friendship of Indigenous people.
