In John's limited free time, you'll find him between cabins and wifi signals deep in the forest breaking new cross-country ski trails, snowshoeing and ice dragon boating during the winter and spring. In the summer and fall, he's kayaking, competitive dragon boating, paddleboarding, triathlon training, going for long walks, and trying to learn bouldering. He stays fit doing callisthenics, and agility, mobility-focused AMRAPS and TABATA workouts.
Hi, I'm John Szczygiel. I am a former board member of ParaSport Ontario and now advise the Marketing and Communications committee. By day I work in conflict resolution and fairness, while at night, I am a social entrepreneur and consultant focused on equity, diversity and inclusion.
We acknowledge the land on which ParaSport® Ontario was built is the Treaty Lands and Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit and the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe, the Wendat, and the Haudenosaunee peoples, many of whom continue to live and work here today. This territory is covered by the Upper Canada Treaties and is within the land protected by the Dish with One Spoon Wampum agreement to peaceably share and care for the resources around the Great Lakes. Today Toronto (also known as Tkaronto) is home to many First Nations, Metis, and Inuit peoples and acknowledging reminds us that our great standard of living is directly related to the resources and friendship of Indigenous people.
