If you are interested in being part of ParaSport® Ontario's Niagara Sledge Hockey League, there are numerous of volunteer positions available varying in commitment and knowledge level, in each municipality.
Volunteer with ParaSport® Ontario
ParaSport® Ontario is looking for volunteers for the Niagara Sledge Hockey League.
Looking to volunteer and join the growing community of the Niagara Sledge Hockey League? A fun, recreational league, that gives every BODY a chance to play. There are numerous positions available varying in commitment and knowledge level, in each arena. These include on-ice aid, coaches, goalies, fill in players, referees and more!
Responsibilities
Responsibilities will vary but may include:
- Helping players in and out of sleds.
- Helping players up if they fall.
- Work with athletes of all ages who may present physical or behavioural challenges.
- Work alongside athletes to encourage and help to participate in program.
- Using a push bar to push players in a sled.
- Maintaining an inventory of equipment / supplies.
- Leading drills/skill development
Qualifications / Requirements
You must have the ability to skate, either in sled or on skates. Alternatively, there are positions for those who wish to volunteer off the ice.
Volunteers will be required to complete Vulnerable Sector Checks.
Experience in sledge hockey and working with people with disabilities an asset.
Coaches are required to have NCCP certified coaching courses sourced through ParaSport® Ontario (Making Ethical Decisions and Planning a Practice).
Aid CPR/AED – C is an asset.
Must be able to attend sessions at least once a week.

Each session of play is approximately 1-1.5 hours from October to the end of March.
