ParaSport® Ontario. There is a sport for everyBODY!”

Erica Gavel

Erica has been passionate about basketball ever since she can remember. A star on the rise, she was a highly sought-after recruit coming out of high school and went on to play for the University of Saskatchewan women’s basketball program. However, her career was cut short after a serious knee injury forced her to the sidelines. Then she discovered wheelchair basketball and found that the same passion for basketball could transfer to the wheelchair game.
Hello! My name is Erica Gavel and I am a recently retired Paralympian (wheelchair basketball). Over the last 25 years, sport has introduced me to the most incredible people, gave me amazing experiences and memories I will cherish forever, and showed me that anything is possible. My new mission is to help people have those experiences too. Would love to connect with you!

We acknowledge the land on which ParaSport® Ontario was built is the Treaty Lands and Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit and the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe, the Wendat, and the Haudenosaunee peoples, many of whom continue to live and work here today. This territory is covered by the Upper Canada Treaties and is within the land protected by the Dish with One Spoon Wampum agreement to peaceably share and care for the resources around the Great Lakes. Today Toronto (also known as Tkaronto) is home to many First Nations, Metis, and Inuit peoples and acknowledging reminds us that our great standard of living is directly related to the resources and friendship of Indigenous people.
