In 2015, at the age of 33, Darek made the decision to have his leg amputated. He was involved in a motorcycle accident in 2007, resulting in many surgeries. After dealing with chronic pain and mobility issues, a failed knee replacement was the deciding factor in his decision. He has not allowed this to keep him from living a full life. He has won gold at the Ontario Winter Games in skiing, played pro wheelchair basketball in Germany and is currently a member of Canada's Sitting Volleyball Team.
No one can tell you where your story will end. Take your destiny in your own hands. I love to share my story and help others become the best version of themselves. I'd be happy to hear from you and help you find an activity that will give you more enjoyment.
We acknowledge the land on which ParaSport® Ontario was built is the Treaty Lands and Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit and the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe, the Wendat, and the Haudenosaunee peoples, many of whom continue to live and work here today. This territory is covered by the Upper Canada Treaties and is within the land protected by the Dish with One Spoon Wampum agreement to peaceably share and care for the resources around the Great Lakes. Today Toronto (also known as Tkaronto) is home to many First Nations, Metis, and Inuit peoples and acknowledging reminds us that our great standard of living is directly related to the resources and friendship of Indigenous people.
