As the Long-Term Development in Sport and Physical Activity (LTD) implementation process evolves for sports, it raises as many questions as it answers.
One issue that repeatedly surfaces is the need to address competition. This discussion paper is not saying competition is bad; however, it is acknowledging that too many competitions can inhibit athlete development.
As well, not enough competition hinders development; therefore, each sport, through their LTD, must find the optimal number of competitions at each stage.
