Cynthia was born with cerebral palsy and discovered the world of parasport at age 12, as a way to stay active and meet new friends. Once Cynthia discovered Para-Swimming, Para-Equestrian, and Para-Alpine Skiing she did not look back. Currently, Cynthia is a retired national level Para-Swimmer who enjoys Masters Swimming and downhill skiing while balancing sport and a career in education.
Hey, I’m Cynthia. I’ve always been a person who likes to stay active and enjoy the world of sport. Living with a physical disability, parasport has and continues to provide me with an outlet to fulfil my competitive and recreational sport goals. Using my story, I would like to continue to inspire the next generation of para-athletes to reach for their dreams in the parasport world. Let’s connect.
We acknowledge the land on which ParaSport® Ontario was built is the Treaty Lands and Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit and the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe, the Wendat, and the Haudenosaunee peoples, many of whom continue to live and work here today. This territory is covered by the Upper Canada Treaties and is within the land protected by the Dish with One Spoon Wampum agreement to peaceably share and care for the resources around the Great Lakes. Today Toronto (also known as Tkaronto) is home to many First Nations, Metis, and Inuit peoples and acknowledging reminds us that our great standard of living is directly related to the resources and friendship of Indigenous people.
